Paul Christian Yeager – Complete Redesign
Total Remodel: ASID Award – First Place Bathroom Remodel
This 58-year-old home was designed by Paul Christian Yeager, a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright’s – and over the years had lost it’s original architectural roots. In this master bath suite, the owners inherited a “hall of mirrors” and the challenge was to embrace the original architecture and create a spa-like atmosphere with an emphasis on nature.
Ceilings were raised to echo the roof design and horizontal, butt-jointed windows now provide light and views of sky and trees. Space was redefined including a bold, centered concrete vanity island with pivot mirrors that allow for contiguous view. A waterfall and open shower link to a roman tub via a black granite bench. Use of smooth and textured stone and concrete in neutral tones and contemporary art redefine the space into a private desert mountain retreat.
